How To Make Money Online With Offline Clients – Part 1: PR

Tired of filling out surveys or doing data entry for nickels and dimes? Then keep reading. We’ll show you how to utilize the hours you spend making little money, and show you how you can make big money instead.

We have decided to post a whole series of articles on how to make money online with offline clients, and the first one is about doing Public Relations (PR) for your local clients.

“But I’ve never done PR, and I don’t know anything about PR, so how could I, or why should I do PR for local clients?” Here is why:

Here is a very easy way of doing it, and this is how I personally used to make money online when I started with internet marketing:

  1. Find a local business client – tell them that you will handle their PR online, which will give them exposure, increase their rankings, and generate more sales/leads.
  2. What to charge?I would usually pitch them with two or three options, and they are all a monthly retainer with a 3 month minimum commitment:
    1. 500 dollars a month will include 1 press release a month and a weekly report.
    2. 1000 dollars a month includes 2 press releases a month, follow ups with the most important online outlets, and weekly reports
    3. 2000 dollars a month could include unlimited press releases (you’ll probably never do more than 2-3 a month for a small/medium sized business anyway), distribution through Associated Press (a service that distributes your press releases to all major news outlets in the country), weekly reports, and perhaps trade show monitoring or something else that would apply to your client.
  3. Most will probably go for option 1 or 2 to test you out, so let’s get started on those.
  4. Writing a press release is not very hard, but it does require a little bit of creativity. I suggest checking out the resources on PRWeb.com on how to write a press release if you absolutely want to write it yourself. I would suggest outsourcing it to someone who already knows what they’re doing. I always use people from Warrior Forum (www.warriorforum.com). You can have someone write a very good press release for under $100 there.
  5. After that, we need to distribute the press release. For the smaller ones, I use WebWire (www.webwire.com) and the $19 option, or PR Web (www.prweb.com) and their cheaper options.
  6. If you really want to do well, I suggest you find blogs, forums, magazines and podcast sites that talk about the niche that your client is in, and that you contact them with the press release to see if they want to publish it.
  7. Automatic monitoring and weekly reports? Easy. Set up a Google Alert via www.google.com/alerts, put in the keywords you want to monitor (company name, and a couple of keywords that relate to them), and you will get alerts delivered to you! No need to look for them! If you really want to impress, I suggest you put in some alerts for their local competitors, and whenever they are featured somewhere, you contact that site/magazine/whatever, and ask how they can feature your company as well.
  8. Every week, sit down with your clients, show where the press release has gone out, show them the features, and upsell them to the next level.

So, in short – imagine this – get 4 clients, 500 bucks each, which equals 2000 dollars a month. Outsource the writing, all you need to do is upload it to the distribution sites and press “Send.” The monitoring takes 10 minutes to set up. The only time consuming thing is doing some actual research and following up with the blogs you really want to get featured on. This shouldn’t take you more than an extra 3-4 hours a week, so if you do the math, you’re making $500 an hour (4 hrs x 500 dollars is $2000).

In the near future, we will be releasing a full step by step guide for doing this, including sales scripts to use – both for phones and in person selling – and templates for press releases and a bunch of extra bonus resources, so after you’ve tried this, you can upsell your current clients and make double the amount of money!

In the next couple of posts, we will take a look at creating online marketing plans for local companies, doing PPC management, SEO campaigns and much more! Stay tuned!

3 Money Making Niches Online: Study

All right, the hard truth is that in order to chase down some of your passions online, you’ll have to have at least one site that is more or less guaranteed to make some income so long as you put the work into it.  If nothing else, the security will give you some breathing space to do other work.  But with so many niches online to sell in, finding the best ones can mean spending a lot of time searching.  Fortunately, we did some of the legwork for you!  What are the top 3 money making niches online today?

Education

Education is on the rise and the demand of information is being fuelled by two things: the continued realization of the importance of higher education in the job market and the fact that more and courses and certification are being done online.  On top of that, there is a demand for advice on education for children and teenagers, adult education, online education, niche schools, reviews of schools, information on scholarships and grants… the list of things related to education goes on and is growing.  If you can build a niche site around any of these things related to education, you should be able to grow a successful online business while at the same time helping students and their parents.  Education money making will generally come about as a result of affiliate marketing, consulting and selling e-books.

Health and Wellness

Health is one of the hugest money making niches around; it’s a vast niche with thousands of ways to dig deep into it and pulls in billions a year.  Whether you want to focus on alternative medicine, nutrition, exercise, WEIGHT LOSS! (a really huge one right there), old age, children’s health, pregnancy, men’s health and many, many others besides, you can find a huge market hungry for knowledge and products.  Health and wellness income is mostly derived from either selling products or affiliate marketing, though some people find success in e-books and courses.  You can easily settle into any sub-niche within this one and feel good about doing it. health and wellness is one of the biggest and easiest niches to make money online.

Alcohol

Believe it or not, alcohol is growing as a niche that makes profits.  At face value, this may seem impossible; don’t you have to buy alcohol at a bar or liquor store?  But tweak the niche a little and the possibilities bloom.  Profits in this niche range from offering information and links on businesses that help with alcohol addiction to home made wine and alcohol kits and recipes, to the buying and selling of rare wine and other alcoholic products.  You can build a niche site based around forums where enthusiast can meet and greet or you can build an affiliate marketing site to advertise aid for alcoholics.  Surprisingly, this niche is versatile in its money making possibilities (you can sell everything from e-books to kits), and as proven in real life, there’s a great deal of money to be made in it.

These are only three of the most profitable niches to make money in.  Other profitable niches include sex and relationships, pets, fashion, and travel.  In truth, most niches can become very profitable if you’re willing to put the time and effort into; the ones listed above are just those that tend to be the most profitable with less work put into them.  If you want a good foundation to start your online ventures on, try one of the above first in order to make your first pay checks.

What is Google Adsense and How Can You Make Money with it?

Google AdSense is the massive Google advertising platform which allows you to let advertisers show themselves on your blog or website.  The idea is to let advertisers get more exposure on the internet while at the same time letting bloggers and website owners make a bit of money every time the advertiser’s link is clicked on.  Using Google AdSense to make money online will not generally net you tens of thousands of dollars a month, but it is a very easy way to make a little extra money off your website.

How it Works

Google has tens of thousands of advertisers clamouring to have a slice of the Google pie to call their own.  This slice comes in the form of links on websites cached on Google.  They can be small text links on the side of your blog or website, or things with graphics and sound if you’re so inclined.  The advertisers pay Google a subscription for the services and then a portion of this money goes to the bloggers and website owners who have successfully advertised on behalf of companies loosely associated with their site.  Every time someone clicks on a link on your site, money is added to your account and you can get paid out starting as low as $10.00.  Google AdSense is free to use and works on every single blogging platform and website style imaginable.  It also gets along fine with other forms of advertising such as selling text link space.

What do You Need?

You need a few things to be accepted into Google AdSense and make money from it:

Ÿ  A Google account, aA website of your very own with at least 10 pages on it (or 10 blog posts if that’s your thing).  This shows that you are committed to your site and having it be www.yoursite.com is more profitable in Google’s eyes than a free hosted site with its own pop-up ads and a huge name.  Conversely, Blogger (google’s blog site) will let you host a free blog and still get along with AdSense.

That’s all!  Apply for Google AdSense, wait about 24 hours to be accepted and then follow the steps to insert ads into your website.

How Much Can I Make?

This is literally and figuratively the million dollar question!  Google doesn’t actually disclose how much you make per click because each ad is worth different amounts of money depending on how competitive it is.  You can check your daily invoice by logging into your account, but even that will only give you an average amount per click.

While stories abound of people making five figure amounts every month, it’s far more likely that you’ll make a few hundred dollars or up to a few thousand dollars a month if you have several well established and popular sites.  Remember, how many advertisements do you click on when surfing the ‘net?  How can you reasonably expect tens of thousands of clicks a month?  You can’t.  But, and this is a big one, you can make enough money to cover the costs of your website and then quite a bit more without doing anymore work than what you’d be doing for your website anyway.  It’s one of the best forms of passive income and installing Google AdSense costs you nothing more than signing up for a Google account.

Google AdSense is almost a must-have if you want to make money off your websites, especially the ones that are strictly informative such as a blog.  It is easy to use, free to install, and is very popular, so you should be able to make at least a bit of money without any more effort that you normally put into your blogs.  All in all, it’s an excellent system for making money online.
