What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is selling other peoples products on the Internet and making a commission. In simple terms, you send a person to a site about a product they are interested in when they buy something you get a % of the money.

For example: You own a site about training dogs. There are several dog training products you can promote. You use an ‘affiliate link’ that tracks the person as they leave your site to buy the product. When they buy the dog training product from the other person you get up to 75% of the money.

So you can make money without even having your own product to sell. How cool is that? You just need to send people using your affiliate link to other people’s sites and make the sale. The person who owns the product is called a ‘merchant’ and they look after delivering the product and all the customer support. You just get the check and your worries are done.
