Your Niche is Your Hobby (and Vice Versa)
There is one ultimate factor in selecting a niche to market, and somehow, some people manage to get it wrong.
We don’t know how. Perhaps it comes from the belief that you can’t make money doing something you love. Perhaps the idea of having fun, and the idea of making money, just don’t fit together for these people. But the saying goes, “Write what you know.” As an affiliate marketer, you are a writer. So you must market something you know.
You have to select a niche you enjoy. A positive attitude, lots of nuanced details, and a sense of taste and style that’s similar to the buyers you hope to attract – these things sell. Dry marketing details, rudimentary research, and arbitrary comparisons do NOT sell.
In other words, a hobby you’re passionate about is an ideal niche for you. Think about it – anything you’ve sat and thought about for hours and hours just because you wanted to, is a source of endless material. And that material is something that people just like you can relate to. That’s the core of why blogging and affiliate marketing work so well together. We love to see people just like us, producing excellent content that reminds us of ourselves. We become fans of productions that make us say, “I could have done that! But it wouldn’t have looked half that good!”
And those are the blogs that lead to successful affiliate profits.
